Dog agility is a sport where handlers direct the dog through a pre-set obstacle course within a certain time limit. Many dogs love agility for the fast paced and challenging physical exercise it provides. Our classes focus on introducing handlers and dogs to the sport by teaching foundational skills, safety, and obstacle familiarization. As teams gain skills and advance through the classes, course work begins. Handlers are taught how to successfully assist their dog in negotiating courses in a safe, fun and positive manner. MLOTC typically requires that dogs have successfully completed a beginner obedience course prior to enrolling in agility class. Dogs and/or handlers with no prior agility instruction will be started in our Puppy Intro classes and/or Speedway classes before enrollment in coursework classes.
Puppy Agility Intro Puppy Agility classes focus on ensuring that your puppy has enough handler focus to play agility safely. Strong emphasis in these classes is placed on instilling confidence in your puppy through positive training techniques and positive experiences with equipment. Specific class prerequisites, age requirements and covered content are based on instructor discretion and demand during the registration process.
